In this work I try to reflect the clash; what has been called a clash of civilizations. But rather than just a clash of civilizations, it’s a clash of ways of thinking. How many people see the world in a dichotomous way? They simplify the world into two sides: you’re with me or against me.

I began the relief inspired by Michelangelo’s Battle of the Centaurs, which I had seen the previous summer in Florence. I was amazed by how horror and beauty mysteriously gathered in this work.

But after starting to work on it, I realized that the world has evolved more complex and at the same time, everything could again boil down to simplicity: one side against the other.

The 4th War is full of tension between different points of view of the world:  The dogmatic versus liberal beliefs, and the orthodox versus heterodox thinking;.  This chain of thesis-antithesis repeatedly and inevitably ends up bumping along history.

«I do not know how it will be World War III, but I know how to be the Fourth … with sticks and stones » Albert Einstein

The 4th War with more than 80 figures is full of allegories on the development of humanity, and makes at the same time, a tribute to some great artists like Picasso, El Greco, Schiele or Rodin.

But it not only wants to develop stories, it also wants to leave an open question to the viewer: why do the sensations emanating from something as horrible as a war, still attract us aesthetically?
